Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Christmas_Card_by_nighty

For my this year Christmas and New Year, I have to spend my time on the rig. I only can get back to home on 2nd of Jan. I feel depress today due to I can't get back to home to celebrate Christmas for this year. I like Christmas very much, I see this festival much bigger than my own birthday. I don't exactly know why I so like Christmas, maybe I'm a Catholic? I also not sure about it.

Today is Christmas eve, those rig crew just finish up preparing the Christmas tree at the galley. When I saw that Christmas tree decoration, I feel more depress than before. I have to spend my Christmas facing the ocean while I doing nothing only facebook-ing for whole day.

I wish I can have a warm coffee and sitting on the couch while enjoying those Christmas atmosphere on the street. I wish Santa Claus can stop by my rig and pick me up to back to my home. I wish to celebrate Christmas at the town but not this freezing cold ocean. But I know this kind of miracle won't happen so easy unless I faster go to sleep and have a great dream tonight.

I have to face my situation here. The fact is I can't celebrate my Christmas at home this year. Hope other people can enjoy their Christmas eve tonight. Play crazy and enjoy the joy... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for everyone!

How you go to work?

How you all go to work every time? I think most of the people will travel by car, motorcycle, bus, KTM or LRT, right? It is so often to travel by those transportation to go to work. But due to my job requirement, I need to travel by airplane, boat and even helicopter. Ya, it is a true flying helicopter. In this trip, I no longer going to Miri but is Kota Bahru. And I go to the rig by helicopter type Sikorsky S-76, just like the photo below.
Heli
How is the feeling travel by helicopter? Firstly I really nervous when I preparing to board into the helicopter. When it want to start take off, it seen like playing video game. It is so fast and just take off like plane too. I'm very exciting since I just sit behind the pilot, so I can observed what the pilot did when taking off, so cool! My journey from Kota Bahru airport to the rig is almost spend half an hour so it is not so far. In the middle of the journey, we went through a cloud. And inside the cloud, it was raining on that time. So I almost can feel all those cloud pass by the helicopter. Nice experience for me. In the end, if anyone ask me how is helicopter ride? I sure will tell them it is damn nice but too noisy from the propeller and damn small cocpit... Haha~ I am looking forward to my second helicopter ride when I leaving this rig... still got 11 days to go...

Malaysia's economic going downturn?

Who said Malaysia's economic is going downturn recently? Before this, I really believe that is true but after I witness one amazing scene, I totally change my mind. As you can see at below, do you see all those peoples?
IMG_1933
Ya, due to there is a sales for some branded goods so all those peoples are rushing to there for shopping. There are so many peoples "rebut sini, rebut sana" to choose their lovely items. Although Malaysia's economic not very good now but we still don't forget to continue our shopping. And the petrol's price will be going down soon, I think there will be more people come out for the year end sales for this december. Salute~

Jogoya...

Jogoya, a restaurant famous with its Japanese buffet near the center of the town. Actually it is located at Starhill gallery near Jalan Bukit Bintang. I went there that day to enjoy nice japanese buffet in town. On the way walking inside the restaurant, those staffs are giving us nice and warm welcome greeting.

After we sit down, we start to grab some foods from the counter. There are a lot of counters preparing different kind of foods. Some of the counter looks like the picture below.

After we grabbed some foods, sure we start to take some photos for our delicious foods. Hehe~

No Black Tie~

No Black Tie is one of the nice places I wish to hang out over there as I mentioned in previous post long time ago. That place is full of nice and soft environment plus fair-sounding music performances. Overall it is just one of my favorite places I wish to stop by.

My wish come true and I went to No Black Tie with two of my friends. No Black Tie is conducting a Bossa Nova Workshop at that night. Thus, we were enjoying the lovely bossa nova performances at that night.
This is the bar area near the main entrance and the wall is hanging a lot of black & white and sepia photos. Those photos under the warming spotlight make me comfortable with this place.
After that, we enter to a small performance room behind the bar area. There are not much people at that night. Just a few "kaki" sitting on the chair wait for the performance starts.
Meanwhile I took some shots with my Canon EOS 45oD and the most photo I like is this photo at above. "Reserved..."
We ordered some foods and drinks then waiting for the preparation to start the Bossa Nova Night. Their foods and drinks are just ok but the feel inside No Black Tie is much attractive than those meals.
Introducing No Black Tie to all the Jazz lovers.
She is really a sweet girl. Should I ask her permission to put her photos on my blog? Hehe~
Kenneth, a nice and kind gentleman. Thanks for the ride to No Black Tie too.
This last photo is taken by Kenneth with his Sony A200 DSLR. I like the colour of the photo compare with mine. Hehe~ Next time we should go out take more photos together. Shall we?

HP Pavilion DV2922TX

Recently I bought a new HP laptop with a reasonable price and good performances. Proudly presenting HP Pavilion DV2922TX...
HP Pavilion Entertainment PC DV2922TX

-Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5750 (2.0 GHz)
-250GB (5400RPM) Hard Drive
-1GB DDR2 SDRAM but free upgrade to 3GB DDR2 SDRAM
-LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD±RW with Double Layer Support
-Windows Vista Home Basic (32bit) with Service Pack 1
-HP Quick Play
-HP Mobile Remote Control
-HP 1.3MP Webcam
-14.1" Diagonal WXGA High-Definition BrightView Widescreen Displey (1280X800)
-nVidia GeForce 8400M GS with 128MB DDR dedicated graphics memory
-802.11b/g WLAN and Bluetooth
-5 in 1 Digital Media Reader
-Express Card/54PC Card Slot
-Expansion Port 3
-6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery
-One year International Warranty

with Targus's HP Koskin Carrying Case, HP Optical Glow Mouse and HP Notebook Green Backpack.

It is a wonderful laptop consists with reasonable price and good spec. Moreover its design is also very stylish because there is some design on the cover of the laptop and inside the laptop near the place we put our hand when typing.
The design of the laptop basically is glow black and silver. Whole laptop feels like very elegant and stylish...
The HP Pavilion DV2922TX comes with a 1.3 Megapixel webcam and dual omni-directional microphones - making video-conferencing simple on this laptop.
The touch sensitive capacitive buttons are lined up in a backlit panel just above the keyboard. It gives users control to quickly launch multimedia playback for DVDs, photo albums and MP3s as well as volume control and mute functions. Besides, the laptop comes with the Altec Lansing Speaker and it really can blast your ears off.
The laptop equip with many kind of ports so you no need worry about to plug in extra port to this laptop when you want to use it.
The HP Mobile Remote Control is stored in the ExpressCard slot and it gives you control of the notebook from up to 10 feet away too.

Overall, it is a great laptop and I'm very satisfied with this laptop. Only one bad thing for this laptop is not enough USB ports. It only has two USB ports so you must buy an extra USB port to plug-in for extra USB usage.

Other than that, it is just fine. I am already tried to play Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in this laptop and it is just great without any lagging although I set very high graphics details. Besides, I also try to connect with my SE handphone via Bluetooth and function as remote controller and mouse with my handphone.

You know how much of this HP laptop costs me? hehe~ It only costs RM2599. Wa! I never think that HP laptop can sell in such price. Anyone interested can go to any HP authorised Reseller to check out this new laptop. I already got one, how about you?

Working in the Oil Industry...

When I on the rig, I received an email from my senior. I think that this is interesting so I copied it and posted it in my blog. Have fun and enjoy reading it.

Working in the Oil Industry...

When i try to explain to people exactly what I do in my job, its sometimes difficult to get them to understand. This may put it in a way that makes it easier to grasp.

We work in weird shifts...Just like prostitutes

We are paid to make the client happy...Just like prostitutes

The client pays a lot of money, but our employer keeps almost every penny...Just like prostitutes

We are rewarded for fulfilling the client's dreams...Just like prostitutes

Our old friends drift away and we end up hanging out with other people in the same profession as us...Just like prostitutes

When we have to meet the client we always have to be perfectly groomed...Just like prostitutes

But when we go back home it seems like we are coming back from hell...Just like prostitutes

The client always wants to pay less but expects incredible things from us...Just like prostitutes

When people ask us about our job, we have difficulties explaining what we do...Just like prostitutes

Everyday when we wake up, we say I'm NOT GOING TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE DOING THIS SHIT...Just like prostitutes

The only real difference is that prostitutes can take Christmas and New Year Eve off and they actually DO make a lot of Money!!!

If you know someone in the oil industry, please share this article with them so they don't feel bad anymore...Just like prostitutes

Tony Roma's

This is one of the postpone post I not yet finish it last time. Angeline and I went to Tony Roma's at Mid Valley to have a nice lunch. First impression for me is the restaurant very similar to TGI Fridays and Chili. After I sit down and open the menu, I found that the menu is also not much different with other two restaurants. So I just simply ordered some dishes to eat...

First, we ordered an appetizer which is called kick shrimp. Quite delicious appetizer and I love it so much. Actually it is a shrimp cooked with some sauce but I not sure what kind of sauce is it. very yummy and it's really appetizing.
As usual, I ordered coffee ( Hot Latte ) and Angeline ordered Ice Lemon Tea. The drinks are not so special comparing with others so not much I can say about it. hehe~
Ya, main dishes are served after that. Chicken Swiss Sandwich and Marinated Chicken with Rice and Broccoli.
The Chicken Swiss Sandwich was very delicious and I like the way they cooked it. The french fries was also great since it not normal french fries but are slices of potatoes. Served with the cheese sauce is a great delicious combination. The taste of the sandwich is in the way I like and not too over. Overall, it is a great dish.
The Marinated Chicken with rice and broccoli is average dish. The marinated chicken is just ok, not so dry but still juicy inside. The rice actually very nice, it got heavy aroma of the spices mixing inside the rice.

The atmosphere was kinda soft and relaxing, the foods are great. I will prefer Tony Roma's than TGI fridays for next time. Hehe~ All the photos are taken by Angeline's Canon DIGITAL IXUS 80 IS. Thanks for the nice photos. Another Canon supporter, hehe~

I'm back from offshore...

At last, I'm back from offshore last Friday.... Feel tired and miss my bed. hehe~ I found that I didn't update my blog long time already so I wrote this post. (My stupid streamyx very slow, seen like got problems already. Have to make complaint to TM tomorrow morning.)

Ok, back to my post... I am working at middle of the ocean and approximately 2hours plus boat ride to get there. My working place for this time is called "West Berani" and "Helang Phase Two". The West Berani looks like the pictures below.
Day Time

Night Time

One of my Phillipine's wellsite geologist took this with his Nikon D80. That night is full moon.

Working at there is an exciting experience for me since I won't be found that kind of job on land. I am working with peoples from almost 10 countries. We speak English or Malay over there. Most of the guy over there are very nice and friendly. My seniors treat me very well and teach me a lot of stuff, thanks man. They are very kind!

My shift is 12 hours shift per day, most of the time I took the shift from 6pm to 6am because I want to work at night. So actually I start working when sunset and going back my living quarter on sunrise. Here got 8 meals per day because our operations are running 24/7 so we will go to eat something at the midnight.

The galley open hours like below:
3.00-3.15am tea break
5.00-7.00am breakfast
9.00-9.15am tea break
11.00-1.00pm lunch
3.00-3.15pm tea break
5.00-7.00pm dinner
9.00-9.15pm tea break
11.00-1.00am supper

Not much entertainments over there but we can still watch TV, surfing Internet and making phone calls. Besides that, we can watch dolphin jumping around at the ocean and some birds flying around the rig. And the most entertaining activity is watching sunset and sunrise. The sunset and the sunrise are very beautiful. I never see such beautiful scenes in my life, it is really breathtaking.

Here are some photos taken by my new friend met at there. He is using Nikon D80 now. Hehe.

This is the photos I like the most, thanks Eric for taking such a good photos.

So I end this post at here and wish I can successfully post all the postpone posts after this. hehe~
